How it all started
Ohio Aquaponics is a small greenhouse striving to produce leafy greens and ornamental koi as efficiently and sustainable as possible. Owners, Kate Pierfelice (plant biologist) and Jason Gilliland (fish biologist) became interested in aquaponics after they met and realized it was the perfect combination of both of their specialties. The idea has grown into a 1,000 square foot greenhouse, situated on land that Kate’s family has farmed for over 100 years. Ohio Aquaponics currently provides microgreens to Columbus area restaurants and residents. They look forward to expanding to lettuce and herbs next year.
